The US Embassy in London will move to a new $1 billion state of the art building in South London which will be the most expensive embassy the US has ever built.
The move to Battersea was provoked by angry residents in the Mayfair area of central London who have complained about new security measures demanded in the area.
Since the 9/11, attacks the embassy wanted to tighten its security network, which included eyesore blast barriers but local residents opposed this believing that they would leave the area more open to attack.
