Capital One is a credit card, banking and financial services company based in McLean, Virginia, a suburb of Washington. As of December 2010, the company's charitable foundation issued the Capital One Fostering a Future Scholarship, a grant designed to help former foster children who have been adopted subsidize the cost of attending colleges and universities.

Eligibility

Due to the scholarship's mission of helping former foster children attend college, Capital One has placed a number of restrictions and eligibility requirements on students seeking to apply to receive the aid money. To be eligible for the grant, students must have been adopted from a foster home at some time after their thirteenth birthdays. Additionally, these individuals must be graduating high school seniors and must also demonstrate an increase in their grade point averages (GPAs) during their senior years. Finally, Capital One mandates that individuals may apply for this scholarship only once – repeat applicants are not eligible.
